Terms of Service

1. What this is

Mathness is a free-to-play math puzzle game. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. Your account

You're responsible for your account credentials. Don't share them. If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else, change your password from Settings.

One account per person. Don't make accounts on behalf of others without their permission.

By creating an account you agree to receive the service emails we need to run it (sign-in verification, password reset, security notices). Optional alerts — friend invites, your turn in a match, results — can arrive by email or, if you opt in, push notification, and you can turn any of those off anytime in Settings.

3. Fair play

Mathness scoring is validated server-side, but we still ask you not to:

• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to play.
• Submit answers you didn't solve yourself.
• Manipulate the leaderboard via fake accounts or coordinated play.
• Reverse-engineer the app to find vulnerabilities for exploitation (responsible disclosure: email hello@mathnessapp.com).
• Use the app to harass or impersonate other players. Pick a display name that doesn't target a specific person or group.

We may remove scores, end matches, or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

4. Your content

The only content you create in the app is your display name, your avatar choice, your math expressions, and your match invites. You keep ownership of those; you grant us the limited right to store and display them as part of running the game (e.g. showing your display name on the leaderboard).

5. As-is, no warranties

Mathness is provided as-is. We don't guarantee uninterrupted uptime, bug-free behaviour, or that your high score will survive a database migration (it should, but we can't promise). Use it for fun, not for anything that depends on it working at a specific moment.

6. Account deletion & data

You can delete your account from Settings at any time. Deletion is immediate on our end and irreversible — your scores, friendships, and match history are removed. See the Privacy Policy for the full data-handling story.

7. Changes to these terms

If we materially change these terms, we'll update the effective date at the top and (for signed-in users) email you before the change takes effect.
